If you’ve played 2D Sonic games before, you know how crucial the Chaos Emeralds are. Not only are they a staple of the Sonic universe, but they also provide unique powers in Sonic Superstars. With seven emeralds scattered across different zones, each offering a unique Emerald Power, some are pretty tricky to find.
Use this guide to help you find all seven of the Chaos Emeralds in Sonic Superstars. If you’re after a list of all the zones, then we have you covered!
All Chaos Emerald Locations in Sonic Superstars
There are seven Chaos Emeralds to find in Sonic Superstars, but only certain levels have them. The following levels and acts are below:
- Bridge Island Act 1
- Speed Jungle Act 1
- Sky Temple Zone Act 1
- Pinball Carnival Act 1
- Lagoon City Act 1
- Sand Sanctuary Act 1
- Cyber Station Act 1
Bridge Island – First Chaos Emerald Location in Sonic Superstars
The journey begins at Bridge Island, Sonic Superstars’ opening stage. Be vigilant as you approach the act’s first checkpoint, right under a majestic waterfall. You might spot a giant floating ring. If you’ve been speeding through the top routes, there’s a chance you missed it. Stick to the lower levels for an easy find.
Jump into this ring, and you’ll be introduced to a hook shot/grapple minigame. Your objective? Reach the Chaos Emerald in 90 seconds. Here’s how:
- Hold ‘A’ to latch onto the grapple points.
- Draw yourself closer to the Chaos Emerald using these points.
- Need more time? Hook onto marked grapple points to grab some rings, which will buy you precious seconds.
- When you’re within reach of the Chaos Emerald, it’ll glow, indicating you can hookshot to it. Secure it, and you’ve got your first emerald!
Avatar Power
Unleash this power and watch as your screen fills with multiple Avatars of your character. These duplicates, for a limited time, interact with in-game elements, be it collecting rings or annihilating enemies.
Speed Jungle – Second Chaos Emerald Location in Sonic Superstars
Speed Jungle Act 1 is where you’ll find the second emerald. Stick to the bottom and continue heading right. After you slide over some vines, choose the middle cave entrance. You’ll eventually do a loop-the-loop, and a frog will slow you down with its tongue. Look above you to find the giant golden ring. Once inside, tackle the hookshot/grapple minigame again to bag the emerald.
Bullet Power
Channel the energy of this emerald by holding the power button and choosing a direction. Witness your character shoot out like a bullet, obliterating everything in its trajectory.
Sky Temple Zone – Third Chaos Emerald Location in Sonic Superstars
Sky Temple Act 1 beckons next to find a Chaos Emerald.
- Stay on the bottom route.
- Use wind gusts to hover and dodge any spiky wheels.
- When you see a ring box followed by a red enemy, you’ll know you’re on the correct path.
- Stick to the bottom until you enter a room filled with gusts of wind lifting you upwards.
- As you ascend, you’ll find a pole to grab onto.
- The giant golden ring is located to the right of this pole.
- Grab the pole, move all the way to the right, then release and push right on the analog stick to enter the ring.
- If unsuccessful, consider restarting the level. Not adhering to the lower levels might cause you to miss this ring.
Vision Power
This power reveals things that would otherwise be hidden. This can be secret platforms, rings, or even items.
Pinball Carnival – Fourth Chaos Emerald Location in Sonic Superstars
The fourth Chaos Emerald minigame can be found in Pinball Carnival Act 1. In Pinball Carnival, always prioritize staying on the lower platforms. As you progress:
- Reach the first pinball section and aim for the top.
- Navigate through the room with the spinning blue and white wheel.
- Head down and avoid the pinball flipper. Slide off it and bounce on the small yellow platform to its right. Jump on the green platform and continue along the path.
- Descend a ramp leading to another pinball section. Use the flippers to ascend to the top.
- The wheel will hurl you left towards another ramp. At the base of this ramp, enter the pipe.
- Emerging at the top, go right and follow the path. This will lead you downwards into another pinball section.
- Again, use the flippers to get to the top. From the wheel, time your exit to fly right.
- Descend another pathway leading to yet another wheel. It’s advisable to exit this wheel, and use the bouncing floor beneath it, and head to your right.
- Proceed downwards, reaching one last wheel. The giant golden ring awaits you on the right.
Water Power
With the Water Power, your character morphs into a liquid form, granting them the ability to swim up waterfalls and maneuver freely underwater.
Lagoon City – Fifth Chaos Emerald Location in Sonic Superstars
The fifth Chaos Emerald minigame is located in Lagoon City Act 1. For Lagoon City, you’ll be taking control of Amy:
- Start by heading left. Engage with fruits, push carts, and make leaps using water fountains.
- Upon reaching the second water fountain, jump onto the platform. Here, you’ll spot a sizable pineapple.
- Ride the moving platform located behind this giant pineapple. Hop onto successive platforms to encounter another giant pineapple.
- Continue your journey to the right. Soon, you’ll step onto a water jet which propels you into a water slide section.
- Maintain your rightward trajectory until a checkpoint comes into view.
- From this checkpoint, take the lower pathway. Leap onto the platform, and you’ll see two balloons.
- To locate the giant golden ring, make a jump to the right side of these balloons.
Ivy Power
Ivy spawns a large plant that your character can grab onto. You can control the direction it grows to get to otherwise unreachable spots.
Sand Sanctuary – Sixth Chaos Emerald Location in Sonic Superstars
The sixth Chaos Emerald can be found in Sand Sanctuary Act 1.
- Prioritize moving right until reaching the first checkpoint.
- Leap over every spinning blade.
- Scale the first sand pillar.
- Ascend the next sand pillar all the way to its top, then move left.
- Jump repeatedly on the quicksand.
- Climb the sand pillar located at the end of this area.
- Scale another sand pillar at the top.
- Use the red and yellow line speeders, which will land you on a red snake.
- If you notice the red and yellow lines again, jump up to connect with the third one and head right.
- Traverse the moving platforms, continuing right.
- When you encounter the red scorpion moto bug, eliminate it.
- Initiate a spin dash, launching off the platform.
- If executed correctly, you’ll spin and jump over the exit of the level and directly into the giant golden ring.
Slow Power
This ability momentarily slows down time, making challenging platform sections simpler to cross and boss moves easier to sidestep.
Cyber Station – Seventh Chaos Emerald Location in Sonic Superstars
The seventh Chaos Emerald minigame is nestled in Cyber Station Act 1. Having the bullet power-up can help you here, but it’s not needed.
- Start by moving right.
- Make use of elastic bands to propel yourself onto the next platform.
- Progress until you enter the 8-bit Tron mode.
- Ride the existing blue lines, jumping on the ones positioned above.
- Continue on your chosen blue line until another blue line going upwards appears.
- Jump onto this new line, then utilize the band located at its end.
- You’ll be greeted by rings and invincibility boxes.
- Advance right onto a new blue line.
- Exercise caution to avoid getting crushed by the looming walls.
- Soon, you’ll find a blue pipe that resembles a spring.
- Step inside this pipe and be transmitted to a different area.
- Move right, either by bouncing using the elastic bands or employing the bullet power, and head to the top of this area to find the giant golden ring.
The “Extra” grants unique capabilities based on the user:
- Sonic: Deploys a homing attack targeting adversaries and item containers.
- Tails: Launches a tornado on the ground, ensnaring foes in its path.
- Knuckles: Delivers a potent punch.
- Amy: Hurls her hammer forward.
- Trip: Fires ricocheting fireballs across the terrain.
Upon amassing all seven Chaos Emeralds, the stage is set for Sonic’s transformation into Super Sonic!
How to use Super Sonic in Sonic Superstars
After collecting all seven Chaos Emeralds, grab 50 rings in any level to change into the character’s super version. This change means no damage taken, faster movement, and high jumps that help you soar through stages. But watch out: your ring count decreases over time. If it reaches zero, you’ll return to the regular form. All characters share this ability, except for the secret character—they have a unique power.
