The soon-to-be-released Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 has announced the inclusion of Ember McLain, a character hailing from the Danny Phantom Universe. As an all-rounder, Ember comes equipped with an array of far-reaching attacks based on her gaster guitar and music-centric moves. These attacks contribute to her unique in-game feature: a cheer meter that fills up incrementally when she lands hits with these particular moves.
Upon filling the cheer meter, all of Ember’s special moves receive a power boost, thereby adding a layer of strategy for players who use her. Among her special moves are her up special, where she rides her guitar into the sky while pulling opponents along until the move’s final hits. Her side special, dubbed “Arpeggio,” comprises four hits and can be canceled at will. When her cheer meter is full, this move transforms, delivering a potent blast all at once.
Another special move in her repertoire is “Ghost Power Cord,” her neutral special. This move serves as a useful projectile for controlling space and initiating combos. It gains speed and power once the cheer meter is filled. Ember’s down special, known as “Jam Sessions,” uses hypnotic tunes to stun opponents, setting them up for further attacks.
One of Ember’s distinct advantages is her ability to operate at a greater range compared to most characters. This advantage stems from her musical abilities and equipment. Those skilled in maintaining spacing during gameplay could benefit from a spike located at the tip of her Forward Air move. Additionally, her light up air proves to be an effective tool for starting combos and juggling opponents.
Other interesting features in her move set include a charged aerial up attack, which can be terminated early for a stronger finish if the attack button is pressed again. Her aerial charged down attack, termed “September Rain,” releases a potent ghostly rip. Overall, the gameplay mechanics and movesets announced for Ember McLain make her a versatile addition to the Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 roster, providing various tools suitable for a range of matchups.
