We’re ending another Fortnite season in two weeks and the game world seems to be changing as Dr. Slone searches out a signal in the stars. Earlier this morning, it seems the first stage of the Apparatus in Fortnite was activated, with it expected to progressively get more powerful and be seen across large sections of the map in the coming days.
This change was first noticed by data miners this morning, but anyone who hops into a new match today should be able to see the laser coming out of the large telescope-like device. The Apparatus is still located at the small platform ruins to the direct east of Rumble Ruins. You can also just follow the large purple laser that can be seen across much of the map.
Players can see this device from much of the map that has an open sky as the purple laser is currently sweeping the sky, seemingly looking for something in the stars. When it finds it, it will likely project the star map on the island, with it potentially evolving past that in the season’s last content update around Aug. 22.
Not much is known about what the theme will be next season, but with the telescope pointing towards the cosmos, we may get an astral theme next season. Epic Games has five teasers scheduled ahead of Chapter Four, season four, and players can expect to learn more about what kind of changes the Apparatus will bring for the next season.
Chapter Four, season four of Fortnite is expected to release in two weeks on Aug. 25.
