Following the success of the first title, Blasphemous 2 is looking to evolve from the dark and disturbing nature of the first game. To get players excited for the release of the sequel that puts players back in the boots of the Penitent One, developer The Game Kitchen has released the first 16 minutes of in-game footage through IGN’s YouTube channel in the video below.
This is the most extensive look that players have gotten at Blasphemous 2, showing the early part of the game’s cinematic and the Penitent’s choice between three weapons. The trailer shows how beautifully grim the world is, with mesmerizing scenes focusing on specific characters. It’s fully voiced, with multiple scenes focusing on other characters that the Penitent is asked to help.
The art style is very reminiscent of Dark Souls if it were recreated even more wonderfully in pixel form. Paired with the atmospheric music, it feels as if the style was placed at the forefront of Blasphemous 2‘s development. The world is brimming with uniquely dark vibes, setting players on another adventure in the fight against The Miracle.
Blasphemous 2 is currently scheduled to release on August 24, with players who want to purchase the title ahead of time able to do so on Steam for a 10 percent discount.
